1. Sachin is named after a legendary music director Sachin Dev Burman.

2. During his early days, Tendulkar would win a coin from his coach Ramakant Achrekar if he could bat through an entire session of nets without being dismissed. Tendulkar has 12 such coins. He still has those coins with him.

3. At the age of 14, Sachin was a ball boy for the match between India and Zimbabwe at the Wankhede Stadium during the 1987 world cup.

4. At first, Sachin wanted to be a tennis player and his idol was John McEnroe.

5. During his school days, Sachin was a big bully. He used to pick up fights.

6. Sachin is ambidextrous, he bats with his right hand but signs autograph, plays tennis  with his left hand.

7. Sachin Tendulkar  is the youngest player to play in a Ranji Team at the age of 14 years.

8. Initially, Sachin wanted to be fast bowler but it was rejected by Dennis Lillee at the MRF Pace Academy in Chennai. He asked him to concentrate on batting.

9.Sachin is the first overseas player to play for Yorkshire in the  English County Championship.

10. Once Brad Hogg has dismissed Sachin. After this event, Hogg asked Sachin to sign on the picture of that dismissal. He signed on it and wrote underneath it "This will never happen again, Hoggy".
