1. Ronaldo was born in a poor family. His father José Dinis Aveiro was a municipal gardener and his mother Dolores dos Santos Aveiro was a cook.

2. He was named after the US president Ronald Reagan, who was his father's favourite actor.

3. At the age eight, Ronaldo played for amateur team Andorinha, where his father was the kit man.

4. Ronaldo was expelled from his school at the age of 14 for throwing a chair at his teacher. He said that the teacher disrespected him. After this incident, his mother made him concentrate mainly on football.

5. He does not smoke and drink. He doesn't drink because his father died of alcohol abuse at the age of 54.

6. Unlike other footballers, he doesn't have any tattoos because he is a regular blood donor.

7. He is the highest-paid footballer.He has a grand total earning of $80 Million per year. Of which, 52 Million he earns from salary and the other 28 Million from endorsements. Recently, Real Madrid has awarded Cristiano a 5-year contract worth $206 Million.

9. At the age of 15 he was diagnosed of with a medical condition called racing heart and it was about to stop him from playing football.  He had an operation that used a laser to cauterize the area of his heart that caused the problem.

      Cristiano Ronaldo: "I have to thank my friend Albert Fantrau for my success. We played together for a youth club. When people from Sporting (Lisbon) arrived, they told us that whoever scored more goals would be accepted to their Academy. We won that game 3-0, I scored the first goal, the Albert scored a header, and the third was a goal that impressed everyone. Albert went to one on one with the goalkeeper. I was running next to him, he went round the keeper, all he needed to do was just to get the ball into the empty net. But, he passed it to me and I scored. I was accepted to the Academy. After the match, I approached him and asked him "why" and he answered; "You're better than me". Several years later, the journalist went to Albert's house and asked whether the story was true. It was confirmed. He also said that his career as a football player finished after that match and he is now unemployed. "But where did you get such a gorgeous house, a car? You seemed to be a rich person. You also maintain your family ... .. Where is all this from?." Albert proudly replied: it's from Cristiano.
